Although there have been annual KL tower events for the past several years, this year's event was special for us...... put on by OG B.A.S.E legend, Avery Badenhop.
Avery is the mastermind behind Team Ill Vision. Ill Vision was a group of air jedis who led the way in the B.A.S.E jumping world in ways that both - stayed true to the culture of B.A.S.E and... pushed the limits toward what was possible. One of those key players in the development of gear and safe practice is Martin Tilley. Marty has been an honorary member of Ill Vision since the beginning and started Asylum Base in 2004. For us and many, many more, he has positively influenced the sport/art since the early '90's.
When Avery announced he was going to organize this year's KL event, and that Marty would be "on deck" helping to oversee safety and gear inspection, we couldn't resist heading to Malaysia to get in on the party! Both of us have been jumping Asylum gear since the beginning of our B.A.S.E careers and it felt like this trip would not just be unbelievable amounts of fun but, also like getting back to our roots.
KL tower is one of the wildest looking buildings in the world. It's literally made for BASE!
Certainly for us, the big city life in Kuala Lumpur is not only non stop entertainment, but jumping on an elevator to get to the exit point can be a nice change from long hikes!
3, 2, 1, SEE YA!!
Normally, jumping buildings can be stressful night time missions involving potential trespassing and sneaking around but, if your not into that......
come to KL and jump this building with friends all day long for
Four- Days- Straight!
It's so wild being under a parachute in the middle of a huge and busy city! The skyline is incredible and every time we jump and land, we're laughing out loud...... before running over to our friends who land after us for high fives, hugs and more uncontrollable laughter.
KAVU days, for sure!
Another cool part of jumping a building that looks like a giant golf "T" is that with the right skills and willing partners.......and Marty looking out for us...... we can feel good about letting loose and getting after it with our friends!
In the end, we had a crazy fun and safe event where everyone went home feeling like they'd stacked some serious fun cards in the deck.
Memories forever and smiles for miles! Pretty much the definition of a KAVU lifestyle and one.... we feel extremely lucky to be living!
