making the most of every day

There is a favorite saying we use at KAVU, “There is no place like this place anywhere near this place so, this must be the place”. In other words, wherever you are and whatever you’re doing…. that is the best thing you can be doing! So I set off to Indonesia for a surfing trip to the remote Telo archipelago to meet up with 7 friends for the trip of a lifetime.

First stop

….Singapore for 2 days to visit KAVU stores and see some friends

……….is touted as being one of the cleanest cities and having the best quality of life. I found that to be very true.

Just walking around Singapore….. you see incredible buildings with epic hanging gardens. The skyline is aesthetically clean and easy on the eyes.

Food is a big thing in Singapore. They have Little India, China town and so many street hawkers and night markets which always keeps things real interesting.

2nd chapter of the trip

…..was to fly to the Telo’s in Indonesia. My first time to Indo, my eyes were wide open, taking in everything. The only way to get there was to be on a chartered, 2 hour flight in a Cessna Caravan. 8 guys and 8 surfboards strapped down. It felt like something I would do in Alaska, back in my fishing days.

The 2 hour flight across Sumatra dodging cumulus nimbus clouds was awesome. After a long open water stretch, we started seeing the islands where great waves awaited us.
