.......where the sun always shines, and it’s always warm (or at least not freezing) even in winter!
This winter we threw the climbing gear, jumping gear, and the dog into the van and rolled down through Sedona, with a stop for some sunny sandstone sport climbing and then blasted down to Eloy.
I just got a new wingsuit (a Sukhoi-T), and couldn’t wait to get some skydives in on it!
Jumping at Eloy is amazing because the dropzone never stops. The weather is almost always great, and you can’t beat the open desert all around for mellow camping, with lots of beautiful sunsets and sunrises and morning warm-up runs before the skydiving starts again!
One thing is for certain, no trip to Arizona is ever complete without a stop to visit the confluence of the Grand Canyon.
It’s a rugged, remote place, and the most beautiful to me when the Little Colorado River is running powder blue as it meets up with the green Colorado River.
It’s hard to describe just how big this place is, and how beautiful the layers of colors are stretching in all directions.
It can be outlandishly hot or icy cold, and no matter where you decide to go, it’s going to take a long time and a lot of effort to get from point A to point B.
This year, the Little Colorado was indeed powder blue and absolutely worth hours of hiking on talus to get to see it again <3
Work hard, play hard......that's our KAVU day!
We rolled out from the Grand Canyon feeling tired and satisfied, as always…..until next winter!
