This summer, I was lucky enough to take a small crew of close friends on their first big, wild jumps! Unsure about Covid restrictions, we heard the news that Italy was open for travelers, so we jumped on the opportunity to visit one of my favorite places in the world!
As always, Italy delivered great weather, of course.... great food, and great BASE jumping!
For me, the trip was a combination of coaching my friends on their first big cliffs, as well as combining a lot of wingsuit skydiving skills I've been working on to the base environment. So, awesome new experiences all around...... which basically defines a KAVU day;-)
What it meant for me was there was a lot more back flying, barrel rolls, and taking docs with other experienced flyers. These flights, in particular, proved to be some of the most fun-based BASE jumps I’ve ever done! KAVU days, for sure!!
It was also great to catch up with jumpers from around the world, and the Italian crew, whom I haven’t seen in a couple years. One of the greatest things about BASE jumping is all of the cool people you meet and get to reconnect with in these amazing locations and beautiful mountains.
This location very convenient because of the local BASE school. They help arrange rides for the jumpers and help to keep an eye on everyone while they are jumping. Every jumper is responsible for themselves but, it always helps to have experienced eyes keeping a lookout for newer jumpers.
The other great thing about the location is its close proximity to Lake Garda which is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. Hanging out by the lake and relaxing mid-day has to be one of my favorite parts about any Italy trip!
This will always be one of my favorite spots in the entire world........
....and I plan to come here again as soon as possible!
For more KAVU days!
