Right now in Moab, the guidelines are to stay away from people as much as possible, and to exercise in a way that’s conservative and safe.
Although I think I BASE jump in a safe and conservative way, it’s inherently not the safest activity out there, so jumping is not in my exercise rotation at the moment.
Not a huge loss.... because this is shaping up to be a typical Moab spring where it’s beautiful weather, but very windy almost all the time. So, I really wouldn’t be jumping all that much right now anyway.
It couldn’t be nicer weather for trail running this spring, and the trails are extra quiet right now since, Moab shut the town to tourism last month.
And the fact is, trail running is truly one of my favorite things, especially with my pup!
This winter I had a trail rotation of the sunny, south-facing trails, but now it’s time to get back to the shady areas. I can definitely tell that spring is here!
And then in a couple of months, it will be time to go up to the mountains and get into the LaSals.
Right now we’re on a daily trail running schedule, with a short 2-3 mile run on most days and a 6-8 mile run once or twice a week.
People always ask me if I mountain bike around here, but I just love the simplicity of grabbing my shoes, my watch and my hydration pack...... and off we go, into the desert, where it’s quiet and beautiful, and Cajun is having the best time ever cruising ahead of me.
It’s a good time to slow down, breathe, look around and figure stuff out.
