I grew up with skiing as my main passion... and loved watching action movies. I remember seeing a James Bond movie, where he skied off a massive cliff and opened a parachute. That idea got implanted in my head at very young age and I always knew it was something I had to experience.
Although I did my first Ski base about 19 years ago, and haven’t stopped since.... it never stops being one of the most exciting things I do.
So, this winter, I drove up to Jackson to meet up with some friends to make a couple ski B.A.S.E jumps. One of the jumps... I had done before, but the other one we were interested in was new to me. My friends had been jumping it and said it was "pretty awesome", so I definitely wanted to check it out!
The weather look perfect when I threw all the parachutes and ski gear in the car and headed north.
We started the day off by hiking up to the new cliff. It was a beautiful hike through the woods with glimpses of the cliff through the trees. I was starting to get super excited as we got closer with each foot of altitude we gained. We only had to do a small amount of work to form the jump and make it ready to go.... since they had been jumping it this season already.
This was one of my friend's second ski B.A.S.E jumps... so he was extra excited, and nervous. But, everything went perfectly, and all of the jumps were amazing! After we landed, we skied back down to the car and headed over to make our next jump.
This one we didn’t have to hike for... but we did have to do a little work to build a nice jump.
Being a much taller cliff, it was better for doing flips from..... always adds to the excitement!
Nothing like a100 foot back flip to make your day!
Another set of beautiful Jumps, and time to chill on the deck to enjoy the sunny afternoon on one of the last few days of winter.
Thanks to all the friends that joined up and made this happen, it was one of my favorite days from the season!
