This winter, I had the opportunity to go somewhere new! Over the last decade I have found myself going back to the same locations (because I love them so much), but when we jumped on the plane headed for the east African coastline and the incredible Seychelles.... needless to say, I was stoked!
And especially.... traveling with an epic crew of highly skilled wingsuiting friends I’ve known for years.... this was sure to be all time, KAVU days!
The journey to the Saychelles is a long one, and exactly a 12 hour time change from Utah. But, after flying hours and hours over nothing but ocean, we started to see a scattering of small islands. You could literally feel the energy in our group getting amped up! One particularly exciting jump we were looking forward to was to skydive into on of these islands, named "Bird Island". Bird island is small, with only a small, grass airstrip, a few huts and some giant, super old tortoises!
After finally landing in Seychelles, we took a one-hour van ride to our "resort-style" accommodations right on the beach!
The resort provided breakfast and dinner "buffet style" every day, which became a super fun time to hang out with the whole group!
The next day we checked in at the Skydiving center and were briefed on the beach landing area and airport safety. We knew these jumps were going to be beautiful, but when we did the first jump, we were all blown away by the gorgeous clouds and the clear blue water we saw below!
The clouds made our jumps so much more three-dimensional, flying through soft, white canyons and wrapping around big, fluffy corners.
When we weren’t jumping, we were usually playing in the water on stand-up paddle boards, or foil boards. The beaches were gorgeous, and often surrounded by amazing jungles and huge boulders that seemed straight out of my imagination.
We spent one day going to an island inhabited by ancient tortoises who some said to be over 200 years old!
Every day, from sunrise to sunset, was gorgeous and totally worth the long journey there and back.
Although..... it did take me a few days to adjust to the time change after getting home. I kept trying to wake up in the middle of the night and fall asleep during the day;-)
All in all... another epic adventure in the books!
Huge, thanks to all my friends that help make this happen!
MORE KAVU DAYS!!!
