We came as 4 friends with two goals in mind. One was to climb and ski a beautiful line on a beautiful mountain….

The other was to live a couple of unforgettable days!

We wanted to climb and ski the Fuhrer Finger in it’s entirety……making one of the longest continuous ski runs in the lower 48. The first day brought us to a perfect shoulder to dig in and enjoy a bit of rest before an early start toward the summit!

It’s always a magic time when the first beams of sunlight touch the highest reaches of the mountain. Silence, crisp air, the crunch under your boots……this was the start of a memorable day…..our KAVU day!

Our group of friends had varying degrees of experience on this mountain. Ashton Ritchie and Juya Ghanie had both climbed and/or skied from the top previously, but this would be my first ski decent and Thomas Tran’s first summit of Mt Rainier! The stoke was high and the view kept getting better with every step!

now...for the fun part

Although alpine conditions usually bring ice or firm snow, we couldn’t have had better timing. Any warmer would have brought rock fall, any colder, ice. For us……we found spring corn and great skiing right from the summit cone!

In the end, we skied down to the Lower Nisqually Bridge and thumbed a ride right back to the car…. stoked on life!
Good friends, doing what we love to do, and living each day to the fullest makes for a great life!
