I had always dreamed of visiting Alaska; dreamed of seeing penguins, narwhals and the Northern Lights. Luckily, a few KAVU friends who live near Anchorage called my good friends, Scotty Bob and Hartman Rector, to come up and explore the Alaskan mountains for wing suit flights.
The locals told us to call a couple more friends (to split costs) and to rent an RV because people come to Alaska and go bankrupt from too much fun! Seriously.....can you have too much fun??
As we flew into Anchorage, we immediately saw Whales! Can you believe it!
Ha Ha Ha!
We picked up the RV, met up with our local friends and headed straight to the river.
Tristan, who owns Create, Ralph Kristopher- photographer extraordinaire, and Pryce Brown- Alaskan adventure man, were our point guys in Anchorage. Iain, Lane, Vincente and Joe all flew in from various parts of the world, along with KAVU crew Scotty Bob, Hartman and myself.
The boys were super excited when we got to our campsite. Alaska is known for its rivers, mountains and mosquitoes! Mosquitoes are Alaska's state bird, after all;-)
After we set up camp, we took a welcomed soak in Pryce’s home-made river hot tub and then tried to hit the sleeping bag and rest up in anticipation for the next days adventure .
Alaska’s summer is made for full time shred! So, we got up to fly early each day knowing the weather can be tricky. We were aware it could change instantly, and often, it did. We only got in a few flights each day but the laughs were flowing non-stop!
It stays light outside until 4am. Luckily you can wander around and get lost in the miles of Alaska beauty.
It truly is the wild wild west up here.
I could not help but to feel small in every part of this amazing landscape. It was the ultimate camping trip "down by the river"!
Additionally, each flight was more amazing than the next! Our days would end with delicious beer, fresh caught salmon and more hot tubbing!
My Alaskan dream came true! I hope you all get out and find your KAVU day!! My next one starts now;-)
