After years of skydiving and only focusing on wing suit flying....
I decided it was time to develop some free fly skills. Turns out this takes a lot of training and hard work.... more than I expected .
But, what keeps me growing, able to stay focused and interested..... and perhaps safe(r) is being humble and choosing to always have a "beginners mind". Learning new skills and searching for new experiences is what..... for me..... a KAVU life is all about.
I started training at the wind tunnel with the guys at Ifly Utah and soon realized... I would need to apply, get hired, and work there to get my skills to the level I felt I wanted.
I’ve always spent as much time outside as possible so, going full-time "inside" was a big change for me. But, being process driven, I knew I'd learn tons every day and, KAVU days would be plentiful!
Skydiving, BASE jumping and skiing in the mountains were the only things I wanted to spend my time doing but, the crew up at Ifly Utah is awesome!
Awesome to learn from and.... awesome to hang out with!
So after a few years of working there, it was a sad day when I left..... but also a very exciting day because it meant I was getting back outside full-time!
Because of respect for the pandemic, Skydive Utah just recently re-opened and, it's been amazing to see all my friends jumping, flying through the sky and having fun again!
My plan is to use my newly acquired skill-sets to teach friends how to improve, or learn whatever sky-sport discipline they're stoked on. I think mixing it up between all of the different ways to enjoy flying and falling will give us a larger variety of ways to fun-have.....
and keep me seriously stoked on each discipline as well;-)
...... of having fun, finding KAVU days and growing richer with experiences together!
