What do you do when your good buddy has a helicopter tour company, and wants to do some fun flying around Moab on slow days?
Ben’s my favorite pilot, and he spends all of his free time hiking around the most obscure areas of the desert that he spots from above, so he’s incredibly knowledgeable about the geography, the geography and the wildlife. He also loves taking his Aussies flying in the chopper, and our dog Cajun has done her share of flying too;-)
We’ve had the opportunity to see much of this beautiful desert with Ben, and we always try to find fun ways to get into it. Just a few minutes away from Pinnacle Helicopters HQ at the Moab Airport is a beautiful, long rock formation called Lost World Butte, and we thought it would be fun to fly over it with wingsuits.
So my husband Ian and I went out with Ben to check it out. It turned out to be as nice as we thought! It’s kind of like having a backcountry drop zone—
easy access,
incredible views,
and a perfect landing area.
Ian and I jumped out together on each side of the helicopter and flew down the mesa from south to north, getting the chance to fly around, and check out the views around the cliff once we deployed our parachutes.
Just a quick little outing..... but a whole lot of fun!
Yet another KAVU day to be grateful for!!
