For me, late September is the best time to go to Moab. The temperature has finally cooled down after the long, hot summer and it always feels like the time to head south to have some fun!
This trip gathered friends from all around the world. Our goals were simple: to play with parachutes, helicopters and zip lines! Moab is a magical place with the dramatic red sandstone making for a perfect backdrop - especially around sunrise and sunset.
This "BASE zip line" was the first of it's kind when we originally set one up here in southern Utah, a handful of years ago. Since then, it's been used in other epic locations around the world but it's always fun to bring it back to the place where it all started. It felt like the wildest reunion I could imagine!
Who gets to do this??!!!
There are many exciting and technical landing areas to challenge your parachute skills in Moab. I think we all like to test our ability to keep calm under pressure.
Helicopters are the best way to get to the top of 1000 foot towers in my opinion..... and BASE rigs are the best way to get back down!
Jumping off cliffs with a magic backpack is obviously not the safest adventure out there. One of our friends had a parachute hangup on the wall but, with ropes and talented friends near by, he was safely rescued in no time.
It is always very important to jump with people you trust completely. As a community, we train so our jumping skills, and rescue skills are top notch within a sport this serious.
Not too many things in life feel as good as a BASE jump with your friends.
