Throughout the year, and this holiday season, regardless of background, belief system, or how each of us celebrates, one of the most foundational ingredients toward living a happier life is to remember all of the things "we have", as opposed to those things "we don't have".
If there were one important life focus, simply trying to live a good and healthy life is a good start.... and if we're lucky, helping others to do the same is even better. Being thankful for positive people.... thankful for our health, and for each and every moment we're alive.... and then paying that forward by trying to be a positive force in other people's lives while embracing all adventures that come..... that's KAVU.
So, we felt like it was a fitting time of the year for the entire KAVU team to converge, reconnect with each other, and brainstorm about how we can spread more good energy around the world through community projects, grass routes human connection and inclusive fun-having.
So, the team did its best to converge on a good, winter-time destination. Many were already in Utah and Steph, Ian (and Cajun) call Moab their home so combined with the beauty, the sun, and the obvious opportunities to get out into some stunning nature, Moab made perfect sense for our gathering.
Both Neil and Jeff would be flying their small airplanes in to try to add some variety and options. The group was instructed to bring anything from OneWheels to skydiving gear.... BASE gear, climbing gear, mountains bikes, paragliders ....whatever, as long as it came with smiles and stoke.
But much more than the festivities, it's always the people and the connections we make that create the best memories. It was said, "I remember some pretty wild BASE jumps but honestly, it's the hugs, high fives and sharing it with friends that brings back the best feelings." Getting together with our "people" (dogs included) is how our joy becomes contagious.
But regardless..... there were some pretty wild BASE jumps to be had;-) Ha ha ha.....
With this crew, I'd expect no less.
But, not everyone on the team is a jumper and it's always so cool to see athletes from other disciplines celebrate new experiences and support their friends.
And, the opportunity to skydive on a KAVU day over such a beautiful desert was too much to pass up.
Our fearless "team fun-haver" leader (Tyler Lee), brought his rig to get his knees in the breeze.... and KAVU's founder.... the captain of the entire ship.... Mr. Barry Barr also got to laugh his way through the sky after getting properly hucked out of the jump plane.
Making life-long memories keeps us focused on what it's all about!
In between team discussions about subjects like sustainability (relative to products and packaging), and figuring out the best way to remain inclusive and supportive, we took time to recognize the beauty of nature and to be grateful for each and every opportunity.
.... and to just simply enjoy being together with dear friends. The KAVU team has been through a lot of wild and crazy life together. We don't get together as often as we'd like but when we do, it's always time that's hard to forget;-)
So, from everyone at the KAVU team..... Barry, Tyler, Dan, T Bradt, Steph, Jeff, Dylan, Scotty, Hartman, Marshall, Jesse, Neil, McKenna, Mark, Ryan, Ian, Julia, Kara, Timmy, and the entire crew in Seattle and beyond..... Happiest holidays!
Stay safe "out there" and go get after it! Life is short and meant to be lived. We sincerely hope you live it in good, KAVU style!
