KAVU is honored to partner with the two newest members of the KAVU Athlete Team. The Peterson sisters.... McKenna and Dylan.... are not just professional skiers or hard charging, hard working fishermen in the moody waters of Southeast Alaska, they are focused on living lives uniquely true to themselves. To us, their "work hard, play hard" attitudes and desire to always do what feels right to them is not just inspiring but truly KAVU to the core!
McKenna's words below, and a few images from their day to day lives, is just an intro to these two inspiring women. Stay tuned for more about how Dylan and McKenna do their "KAVU life".
You can pick your nose… you can pick your sister’s nose… but you can’t pick your sister. Luckily, mine is pretty cool. Dylan and I are commercial fishermen in the summer and skiers in the winter, but most importantly we are sisters.
We have been running our family fishing boat, the FV Atlantis for the past 4 years. I captain the boat while Dylan makes sure everything is running smoothy and correctly (including myself).
Purse seining for salmon in Southeast Alaska is hard work but the rewards are worth the effort.
It’s a beautiful balance, living a life that half of the time is based in the mountains, and the other half, on the ocean. The two worlds compliment each other..... mountain life and ocean life… skiing and boating. Our work in the summer opens the opportunity to spend our entire winter in the mountains.
This is our version of KAVU life
"Work hard to play hard" is our life philosophy. And..... we’re doing it together.
