Julia and I have been saying for a while that we needed to take a vacation. In 2020, we got married, Julia started her immigration process to the US, we started our BASE instruction business, and we spent 2 months in Brazil getting our future terminal BASE course off the ground. It's been an incredible, fun and rewarding ride so far but, also has had it's challenges to overcome.
A lot changed for both of us..... and with change often comes heaps of stress.
So a little over a year after we "tied the knot" in Hawaii, we decided to return to the Islands, this time to decompress and explore Maui.
The idea of decompressing on a trip is fairly new to both of us. Usually when either of us have traveled in the past, it has been for our passions: BASE jumping or climbing.
We have usually shy’d away from tourist traps or travel guides, but for this trip, we decided to indulge in the art of being tourists. Turns out, we make really good tourists;-)
We saw pretty much everything Maui has to offer. From watching the sunset at 10,000 feet on top of Haleakala, to snorkeling with turtles all around the island.
Apparently it was Humpback whale season, because we couldn’t go 5 minutes without saying.... “Hey look, whales!”.
I feel like we drove the length of the Island at least 5 times over checking out different waterfalls and hidden beaches. That island has a ton to experience if you're keen to explore.
I think the most important thing we took away from this trip is: if you are going to work with your significant other, you need to take a breather every once and while so not to burn out.
Julia and I are around each other pretty much 24/7. Small disagreements can occasionally become massive arguments over time with so much to do with our business and/or keeping the jumping organized and safe(ish). It was amazing to get out of our routine, smell the roses together..... reset, rest and find some balance.
I think we nailed it.
