Shaw Island and Beyond

A KAVU Adventure...

Dan and I are the Marketing “Wolf Pack” at KAVU. Dan Has two Daughters and I have two sons. Dan decided to take his 3 year old Daughter, Nori with him to Shaw Island for 2 weeks and live life "Island Style".... AKA "KAVU style", this past July.... Busy Living Everyday.

A short back story…. about a month before this, through some fun connections and a few beers at the bar, Dan acquired Ivar’s old boat. Ivar is a Seattle legend and one thing he was known for was founding an amazing restaurant in Seattle called Ivar’s.

So after pulling one of ole’ Ivar’s boats out of our buddies yard, Dan went to work and cleaned her up before towing his new, legendary boat up to Shaw Island with Nori.

Obviously, the boat is named Ivar

Ok back to the story… Since half my wolf pack, Dan, was having amazing "KAVU days" with his daughter Nori on Shaw Island and I had 48 hours of free time away from the email monster, it only made sense to rally north to the San Juan Islands with my oldest son, Rayno. We had no idea how much fun you can have in 48 hours and, I had never been to Shaw Island.

So, we jumped in the KAVU truck and headed for Ferry. We walked on the ferry, had a nice cruise across the Sound, and met Dan and Nori on the other side.

Island life!

First, we had to catch some dinner…. Dungeness crabs of course!!

We slept under the stars and got the opportunity to see planets and the space station fly across the sky. When Rayno and I left, he wanted to be a Fire Fighter, but after that night he wants to be an Astronaut…

“Go Rayno! Be whatever you want to be buddy!!

An Astronaut sounds just perfect to Papa, take me to space one day, buddy!”

We started early the next day with Pancakes and dancing, as you do....

Then, we rallied all over the San Juan Islands in Ivar, seeing the sights and feeling fully ALIVE!

Ice cream at Roche harbor is a must, Oh..... and they also have a wonderful wooden playground. "Yes please", said Rayno and Nori

We took Ivar all over the place and the kids (and the Dads) enjoyed the free feelin’ island style!

When we made it back to the truck, we got to see some wildlife close up. Rayno loved seeing the deer.

Without a doubt, it was 48 hours of life changing memories for me. What a special time.... to take my oldest son on a San Juan mission, sleep under the stars, and cruise around the islands on little 14 foot boat!

It’s one I will never forget.
