At KAVU, we are so lucky to work with amazing people around the world. People that believe in the KAVU day and live Klear Above, Visibility Unlimited.
After 3 long year of not being able to travel to visit our sales partners in South East Asia, we decided our first stop was going to be Hong Kong and then Bangkok.
Jeremy Goodman, or 'J Goody' as he is known, and I set out to far reaches of the world to see KAVU products in the wild, and to say "Thanks" to our partners.
We set off from Seattle to South Korea, and then took a hard left and dropped into Hong Kong.
Definitely one of my favorite cities in the world, Hong Kong is so vertical, compact and mountainous.
Upon arrival into Hong Kong, we have a tradition of going directly to Kowloon waterfront (no matter what time it is) to check out the views of Hong Kong Island.
Hong Kong is also one of the only cities that still uses bamboo scaffolding to build buildings. It's incredible how they do it!
The first day of our trip, we got to see Tony at ETC who has run KAVU Hong Kong distribution for over 10 years. Tony has done an amazing job building KAVU awareness and promoting our style and lifestyle in Hong Kong.
On this trip, like previous trips, our hopes were to learn from him and visit as many stores as we could to keep a connection with the market and the locals. After all.... it's all about the people!
Tony even had a custom made KAVU 'Welcome Dragon' made, and used it to bless all of the new stores that had recently opened!
So Cool!
After the meetings at the office, we were off to see the stores. We were so impressed by the caliber of the stores, and the knowledgeable staff on all the brands they carry and promote.
Macrame Bohemia has several stores and really gets behind the KAVU brand.
'Ohio' was an amazing store we visited, right in downtown Kowloon, off the well traveled 'Nathan Road'.
We loved seeing the KAVU 30th year neon sign in every store we visited. It was awesome and felt great to have each store and their employees feel like part of our KAVU extended family. It was our moto, "live local worldwide" in full effect!
In Hong Kong, we had some great specially made screen prints, which are only available there, and in Japan. Keeping things custom, unique and special is how we do it!
We also made time to see an old friend and trusted supplier, Calvin Lam.
I have known Calvin and worked with him for over 20 years and it was great to share time with someone half-way around the world that we have such a rich and fun history with.
When in Hong Kong, it's always wise to get custom dress shirts made by my old friend Ramesh Bhojwani, at New Creations Custom Tailers.
I had the luck to have met Ramesh decades ago, and I visit him every time I find myself in Hong Kong.
After 2 full days of hitting the stores, we treated ourselves to some great local seafood out in Sai Kung. The local fisherman tie up to the pier and you pick what you want.
Live Octopus anyone?
Having KAVU days with KAVU people in Hong Kong.... experiencing culture, laughs and making memories.... that's what it's all about!
Next stop was Bangkok, Thailand to meet the team at Gori Outdoor.
It is a dream to be selling KAVU in Thailand with such awesome partners. The team at Gori Outdoor are true professionals with an amazing vision, bringing the KAVU outdoor lifestyle to Thailand.
There are 5 'KAVU only' stores in the best retail shopping places in all of Bangkok. It's a special honor for us to be represented in such a way. We love connecting with community and each person who walks into a KAVU store is part of the family and hopefully, on the path toward living their best life!
The KAVU displays and representation of the brand was top notch.
Grateful and Stoked!
On our last day, we got to visit the office and warehouse of Gori Outdoor, and had an amazing meeting with the entire team. It's always very important to us to be personally involved with our partners. Relationships with people ensures that what we're all doing is so much more than just making and selling clothes and bags. We want our brand to stand for something so that when you wear KAVU, it's a statement about who you are.
"Live life to the fullest and help others do the same". "Spread positivity". "Work hard and play hard while being uniquely you"..... these statements are what we hope our team can promote and of course, live by.
And lastly, when we travel..... we always mix fun in there..... and make sure we get a taste of local foods;-)
I hope you find your own KAVU Day today!!
