Winter in Truckee, CA has been all-time as many of you have witnessed from the extensive atmospheric river coverage permeating all forms of news throughout January.
After digging out and the high pressure setting up to block any more precipitation, I had an opportunity to head down to San Diego to take in some rays and fly my paraglider with a group of pals at the very place I learned to fly 22 years ago...
Torrey Pines Gliderport!
Not much has changed at this historic landmark of motor less aviation over the last few decades.
The Cliff Hanger Café is serving much better sandwiches, the cliff has adjusted in places due to massive rainfall this year, surfers and still lined to ride the famous break Blacks Beach.
..... And, a fascinating raptor center has set up shop teaching the public about birds of prey.
For me it was like riding an old bike, and flying paragliders until sunset, followed by landing in the lovely grass apron to high five old friends was just the what the doctor ordered in the depths of winter.
I can’t wait to go back!
