Earlier this summer, Marin Bikes shared the news of a new kid's bike in development....
a 24” wheeled shred-machine with an awesome component set for anyone.... let alone a kid just learning how to ride!
This got me so excited because my step daughter Zoe just turned 8, and she’s been very eager to get out and “go Fast on a bike!!”. With me spending a lot more time at home due to COVID, I’m riding locally and seeing her more often.
She’s the type of kid who’s pretty fearless and just wants to constantly give new things "a go".
I hit up Marin and they had a bike sent my way as soon as possible. This was so sweet! We built up the bike together and her first ride was game changing.
She had never been on a mountain bike before, and it was a bit of a learning curve, but with some coaching she was quickly figuring it out.
Her patience and persistence paid off big time on that first day.
After the first couple hours of pedaling around the neighborhood she already had body position dialed.
WOOHOO!
Fast Forward one month and she has 10+ proper rides under her belt, the basic concept of jumping figured out, the ability to navigate steeper terrain and control her brakes, and most importantly:
a genuine love for getting rad!
Ever since I met Zoe, she’s asked to watch mountain bike videos, or anything that’s a wild time in the outdoors.
Who knew that just one month into learning how to ride, we’d be ripping down blue runs together at the local bike park!
This 8 year old girl is fearless..... and her bike inspires confidence.
